Village Green Park

Park Photo 1

The Village Green Park located off of Main Street just one block east of Mill Street is just a sample of the pride that the Village of Dalton takes in our own natural resources. The park maintains two little league size baseball fields bordered with century oak trees that retrieve an occasional foul ball from the heavy hitters.

The playground area is frequented by parents and grandparents alike and provides countless hours of enjoyment for the children who have energy to spend on the number of slides and obstacles. Each have a bed of bark mulch to soften any mishap in the area.

Picnic tables, basketball courts and an outdoor shelter surround the playground and supply ample resources for family gatherings.

Come on out and get some exercise, bring the whole family and enjoy the greenery at the Village Green Park. To make reservations for the shelter just call the Town Hall at 330.828.2221 and talk to Denise.

The Dalton Village Park located on Mill Street across from the Hardees on Mill Street is another great place to picnic. Three pavilions at this facility supply ample space for larger gatherings. Playgrounds keep the younger children entertained for hours.

Dalton Village Park Field

Playgrounds keep the younger children entertained for hours. Softball is big in Dalton and this field, adjacent to the park allows the local High School team and others to enjoy this sport. Spectators are encouraged to pull up a lawn chair or to take a seat on the bleachers and root for your team.

The Sippa Valley Trail

Biker on Sippa Valley Trail

The trailhead of the Sippo Valley Trail is located at the Village Green Park and heads north and then east out of town. The trail is 2.5 miles long in Wayne County and connects to another 6.5 miles in Stark County. Scenic bridges like the one above are found within the first mile of the trail.

Sippa Valley Stream

Streams like this meander by the Sippo Valley Trail and provide a scenic experience for hikers and bikers alike.

Touch-Me-Nots and sun-ripened blackberries line the paved trail as you take a lazy trip and improve your health at the same time.

Trail development and maintenance needs financial support from local citizens and private enterprise. To donate to this non-profit organization make your check payable to: Rails-To-Trails of Wayne County, P.O. Box 1566, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
